Competitive seminar concerning the Sharpston Case – A.a. 2020/2021

The Seminar on Sharpston Case consists in a Moot Court inspired by the actions brought before the Court by former Advocate General Eleonor Sharpston. During the academic year 2020/21, the students of the Course of EU Law (University of Ferrara and Rovigo) were divided in 5 teams composed by five students: applicant; defendant (Council of European Union and Conference of the Representatives of the governments of Member States); European Parliament; Republic of Greece; Advocate General. Every team was requested to draft a judicial act in order to simulate the action before the General Court in Sharpston Case. The Seminar was extremely helpful for the students in order to understand the concrete functioning of the EU litigation.

The Seminar was introduced by a lecture about the Sharpston Case in the light of the judicial independence in EU: the keynote speech was held by the Former Advocate General and President of Italian Constitutional Court, prof. Giuseppe Tesauro, and the debate was held by prof. Massimo Condinanzi (University of Milan) and prof. Roberto Adam (Scuola nazionale dell’Amministrazione).
